Do people think it's easy?
Running a munch can be hard work why I hear you say, well let's see you have to set up a website, sometime set up a group to, you have to find somewhere to hold the munch each month, you have send and answer a lot of mails, you have to be able to help people find the info they are looking for, you also have to get people to go the munch and that is not always so easy, people have a lot going on in their life so cant always make the munch or it's to nice a day to sit in a pub or the weather is to bad to go out, the only people that you know will be there each month are the ones that run the munch,
That's just some of things you need to do when running munch, but the is a lot more and most of it people don't see, they see you at the munch for a couple of hours a month and think that's it. If your running a munch you have to be there, you can't turn round and say sorry I had other stuff to do, cos people are expecting you to be there, I can only speak for myself and slavet why we run the munch and that is to try and give back to the lifestyle, to help give new people somewhere safe to come and chat a stepping stone. But a munch needs people to support it, to come month in month out, We get ask a lot how many will be there, honest answer, we don't know, since we have been running it we have had from two people turn up that's just me and slavet to 30 people turn up. I don't want to turn this is to me having a big moan, BUT we get mails moaning about how few people were there or we get mails saying I mailed you two days ago you have not answered, what we don't get many of are mails saying how much people enjoyed the munch, what they like about the munch. We need feedback good and bad, it's your munch and we do need your help , let others know about the munch don't just wait for them to come across the munch website or the ads on informedconsent, help your munch to survive.
Our munch can be a lot of fun we talk about all sorts we joke we have a drink , we make people feel at home, we try and give anyone that needs a chat time we do this for 4 hours a month, that's not much I hear , well no it's not, but then we normally have people staying with us who live too far to go home, we have to start answering mails sending people the info they have asked us for at the munch and the list goes on.
Not sure how to end this am I having a little moan well yes and no I would never give the munch up but and yes there is a but , we have a life to outside the munch there are things we can't do cos it's the munch day, we put the munch first, I am not asking people to put their munch first but I would ask them to support it as much as they can, even if you can only turn up to say hello that's great do so, cos without you the is no need for a munch it's there for you.
