3pks of 7" rubber bands (12 bands per pack) available from Staples™ 8" piece of 12mm dowel wooden bead/ball I used 1" wooden dolls heads from Hobbycraft™ 2¼"x2¼" piece of neoprene rubber cotton, wood glue (No Nails™), staple gun |
| Each set of rubber bands is held together by a smaller band. Save one of these small bands. Make one cut in the long rubber bands to break the loops into single strands. Thread each strand, ½" from the top, onto a piece of cotton |
Brush some glue along the top of the bands and wrap them around the dowel so that the top of the strands are about 2" from the end of the rod. I found that the glue is not strong enough to hold the rubber bands to the dowel so I used the staple gun and stapled them in place. Take two of the small bands and twist them once to make them tighter. Use one at the top of the strands to hold them against the dowel and use the other further down the strands just past the end of the dowel to gather them in a bit. |
Place the neoprene rubber around the strands to cover the last 2". This covers all the glue and staples. Trim the piece so it has to be pulled slightly to fit around and stitch it together. |

Paint the wooden ball a chosen colour and glue to the other end of
the dowel.
Hold the flogger up and trim the ends of the rubber bands to make them neat and even |
