You will need : An old crop 2ft of 8mm shock cord tape glue sharp knife scissors |
If your old crop has a leather or plastic stem then remove the flapper by cutting the binding that holds it in place and pulling it off. If the crop stem is braided then trim as much of the flapper away as you can without damaging and fraying the braiding. |
Take the bungee rope and cut off the braiding with a sharp knife. This will reveal several wide strips of bungee. Use 2ft of shock cord to get 18" of bungee strands because the elastic contracts when the braiding is removed. |
Using the glue stick these pieces of bungee around the flapper end of the crop stem making sure that at least 3" of the bungee is applied to the stem. |
| When all the pieces are arranged around the stem take the tape and find the place where the tip of the stem is beneath the bungee. From that point, tightly bind with the tape working your way up and slightly beyond the bungee ends. |
You'll notice that each strip of bungee is made up of thin strands. Peel these strands apart on each strip. |
| Hang the crop or get someone to hold it for you so all the strands are dangling down and trim them evenly to get the length you require. 10" seems a good length for the strands on this toy. |
