Valentine

The colour red is prominent this week –
Red hearts, red lips, interminable red roses.
But here's what makes my Valentine unique:
Bent low over the desk, patient, she poses
Unmoving while I colour each proud cheek
With red deeper than any painted heart. …

Submitting does not show her soft or meek;
She must be strong to play the weaker part.
Perhaps you need the warmth of which I speak,
Spread through your loins by crop or tawse or cane.
Is this a new experience you seek,
Or one you had before and must again?

So let your heart-shaped bottom now be mine;
Once scarlet, it shall be our Valentine.
